General Anaesthesia
General anaesthesia involves the administration of anaesthetic agents to induce a state of unconsciousness (sleep). It is a specialist procedure completed by an anaesthetist in a private hospital. Anaesthetists are medical experts in anaesthetics, drug administration, and pain management.
General anaesthesia is often required if someone is anxious about dental surgery or if the surgery is complex.
The Oral Surgery Centre works with Bay Elective Surgical Theatre (BEST) to provide general anaesthesia. The hospital was completed in 2014 and is Hawkes Bay’s newest theatre. Conveniently located at 2 Lamason Street in Greenmeadows, Napier, it is easily located and only moments away from Napier, Hastings and Havelock North. Please see our Contact page for directions.
